Cottage of the Week – The Pump House
Location (location, location) may be the most desirable factor for homebuyers, but we’d say it’s a secondary factor when it comes to our new Cottage of the Week. The Pump House in Appleby boasts a wonderful interior décor, offering a lovely combination of style and comfort. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t want to step back over the threshold until your holiday is over, preferring instead to lounge on the sofa, appreciate your surroundings, and enjoy the relaxed pace of life that the property affords.
If you can make it to the doorstep, however, you’ll see that The Pump House is no slouch in the location department either. Take 10 steps from the door of this cosy romantic retreat and you’re in a prime location for fishing, daydreaming or just watching the water flow through this stunning, tranquil oasis. Views from The Pump House also include a church and cricket pitch, so you’d be hard-pressed to find more quintessentially English holiday home.
Appleby is centrally located within the beautiful Eden Valley, between the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. There are few better locations to admire the wild beauty of Northern England, while you also enjoy the contrasts in culture and scenery. Traversing the local landscape is an attraction in its own right. The Eden Valley seems practically tailor-made for walking and cycling. If you fancy taking it a little easier take a ride aboard a heritage railway, or you could also visit Ullswater and enjoy a leisurely cruise aboard a steamer.
The Pump House itself is the ideal couples retreat. Not only does it offer a wonderful romantic location but you can also arrange to have chocolates and champagne delivered. So if you’re looking for a quiet break, or just fancy spoiling that special someone, you might want to pay a visit!
