Cottage of the week – The Lighthouse
VisitEngland recently posted a great little article on our new Cottage of the Week and we liked it so much that we decided to share it with the readers of our blog.
The Lighthouse in Kent ticks all the boxes of a great holiday property: it’s completely unique, bursting with colour and personality and is set in a spectacularly scenic location. We love cottages that offer an experience to holidaymakers and The Lighthouse is undeniably one of these properties.
Even if you’ve never wanted to be a lighthouse keeper we’re sure you may reconsider your choice of career once you check out the views of the North Sea and coastline from the balcony ‘look out’. In fact, stunning sea views are inescapable, with almost every room offering a fantastic nautical vista.
But stunning seaside views are just one of The Lighthouse’s many charms. Since you’ll be spending your time relaxing, and not fending off errant ships from the shoreline, you may fancy a few more relaxing options. There’s an enclosed garden with a path leading down to the beach. If you fancy getting your toes wet, but the North Sea climate doesn’t appeal, there’s also a private outdoor heated swimming pool.
Journey slightly further afield and a host of leisure options await you. Herne Bay is only 3 miles away with clean beaches and a wealth of aquatic activities such as windsurfing, sailing and jet skiing. Take a boat trip and you can see some of the area’s other residents: dolphins and seals. Further inland there’s Reculver Country Park, which offers lovely walks from Bishopstone to the ruins of a Roman fort and Saxon church. Wildwood Trust on the edge of the Forest of Blean offers a stunning opportunity to discover Britain’s changing wildlife. The historic city of Canterbury is approximately 10 miles from your door.
We’re exhausted after writing that so you’ll doubtless be tired from enjoying it all! If you’re after rest and relaxation The Lighthouse is happy to oblige. There’s a spacious living room with gas ‘wood burner’, wooden floor and the aforementioned sea views. The dining room offers patio doors to decked terrace and the kitchen also leads to the terrace and offers a gas range and breakfast area. There’s also a TV, DVD player, CD player and highchair and travel cot.
If you fancy a slight change of career, or just an incredible place by the coast to enjoy a break, then you can check availability and make a booking at The Lighthouse on our website.
