Cottage of the Week – Sawmill Cottage

If there’s one thing better than enjoying a life of unrivalled luxury it’s doing so without breaking the bank. We’re passionate about this and we know a lot of our customers are too. So we’ve recently launched a new section of cottages4you to provide a little luxury at an affordable price.

With our Luxury Collection offering over 650 opulent and character-filled retreats all over the UK, not only are you spoiled with a wealth of creature comforts but you’re also spoiled for choice. The only downside to this is choosing just one property to showcase the variety of benefits our Luxury Collection affords. However, after some debate we settled on Sawmill Cottage in Tunbridge Wells.

Standing opposite the Georgian colonnade of The Pantiles, The Sawmill used to provide materials for this still highly popular resort. Now it allows guests wonderful front-row access to a host of open-air cafés, restaurants, bars, small specialist boutiques, antique shops and alfresco entertainment – along with a beautiful base from which to explore the far reaching beauty of the region.

Leave the front door of The Sawmill and you’re presented with a host of wonderful ways to pass the time. Tunbridge Wells is widely regarded as the Gateway to the Seven Wonders of the Weald. Officially recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the region is brimming with history, tranquility and a wonderful array of stunning scenes to stop and admire.

The Seven Wonders themselves effortlessly showcase the High Weald’s wide array of attractions. Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest caters to those looking to explore the region’s natural beauty.  Those looking for further examples of what the rich landscape of the High Weald affords will be well satiated with a visit to Biddenden Vineyards, while everyone else will just be well satiated with the samples on offer!

Both Penshurst Place & Gardens and Chiddingstone Castle offer wonderful showcases of the region’s colourful history, while Marle Place Gardens and Gallery and Merriments Gardens provide a wonderful feast for the senses. The final attraction is perfect for a more sedate showcase of the region: over 10 miles of relaxing railway to explore and enjoy on the Kent & East Sussex Railway.

Like the surrounding area, Sawmill Cottage itself isn’t short of riches. Alongside a beautiful and unique 18th century architectural style you will find oak floors, Belfast sinks, roll top baths and a lovely handmade kitchen that effortlessly helps to preserve the historical ambience of the property. A flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player and an array of white goods help to enhance your holiday without breaking the beautiful historical illusion. To help you get into ‘holiday mode’ there will also be a welcome pack waiting for you on arrival with champagne, chocolates and flowers also available by arrangement.

If you’d like to book a break and find out more about this wonderful historic property, take a look at its listing on cottages4you. You can also visit our Luxury Collection section for more fantastic properties.
