Cottage of the week – Park Hall Manor

Keen readers of the cottages4you blog will have noticed that we’ve been a little bit pre-occupied with literature of late. This is due in part to a number of events taking place that celebrate the written word, such as the Bath Literature Festival, and our own Magical Literary Tour of the UK. But while our new cottage of the week, Park Hall Manor in Derbyshire, has notable connections to the UK’s literary history, it’s also a stunning property in its own right.

As a Grade II listed wing of a manor house, set within 14 acres of natural grounds, you’d be right to assume that Park Hall Manor’s literary connections aren’t with Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting. In fact, the property is situated close to locations used in the BBC’s 2006 production of Jane Eyre and the 2005 film version Pride and Prejudice. However, unlike in Jane Austen’s classic novel, the story of your family’s stay in the region should be far less turbulent, and far more relaxing.

The property is situated in the idyllic hamlet of Little Hayfield, which has its own connections to the written word, as it’s where Tony Warren created Coronation Street. The village offers annual celebrations of country life but makes for a fine place to visit all year round. It’s also a great base from which to begin your exploration of the surrounding area. The caverns around Castleton, the (nicer than it sounds!) plague village of Eyam, the popular walking village of Edale and the attractive village of Hope are all just a short distance away. Chatsworth House and  Haddon Hall are the aforementioned filming locations and are equally accessible from the property.

But Park Hall Manor is no less resplendent than its surrounding period properties. You’ll find a stunning collection of original features and plenty of contemporary comfort on your stay. Sleeping 22-28 holidaymakers, it’s also one of our larger featured properties. However, with so much room on offer, it’s possible you might not see much of your fellow guests on your stay. And with so much space comes a wealth of options. Along with plenty of interior places to relax and explore, there’s also a large lawned garden and 14 acres of grounds.

If you’d like to find out more, or make a booking, please visit the property’s listing on cottages4you.
