Cottage of the week – Les Marronniers d’Inde
Inspired by the upcoming Bordeaux River Festival we’re taking a trip across the channel for this week’s featured property.
We chose Les Marronniers d’Inde in Gironde because not only does it place you in close proximity to the River Festival, but because it also reflects everything that makes a holiday in France so appealing. Take a break at Les Marronniers d’Inde and you’ll not only have a fantastic property to relax and enjoy, but you’ll find a beautifully peaceful village to explore – not to mention the heart of the region’s wine growing area.
The property itself is a spacious semi-detached house built in the traditional Girondine style. There’s a wealth of original features that add a little bit of rustic magic to the property – including exposed beams, wooden floors, a roll top bath and casement windows. Further comforts include a wood-burning stove, satellite TV, DVD player and games console. Take a trip through the French doors (what else!) and you’ll find a delightful garden with a private plunge pool, barbecue, furniture and plenty of space to enjoy!
The village of Landerrouat is a perfect place to stock up on necessities and begin your exploration of local wine, offering a shop/bar and wine cave with tastings and fabulous local wines available. Further attractions include the wine producing vineyards of St. Emilion (less than 1 hour’s drive), the city of Bordeaux (over an hour’s drive), and the coastal towns of Arcachon and Biscarrosse (half an hour further). Closer to home are the towns of Monségur and Duras – with its famous château and markets just a short drive away.
If you’re interested in unwinding at Les Marronniers d’Inde then there is an airport approximately 40km away at Bergerac, or, if you fancy something more scenic, we are offering a special inclusive offer with discounted ferry travel. Please view the property’s listing on cottages4you for more info and to make a booking.
