Cottage of the week – Laurel Tree
If you’re interested in following Scotland’s malt whisky trail then you’ll probably want somewhere to stay / recover. Our new cottage of the week, Laurel Tree in Argyll, is so much more than just a place to lay your head, however. Set thirty metres above the River Awe, the property offers commanding views of the surrounding countryside, including dramatic mountain ranges that provide a clear reminder that the Scottish countryside is delightfully far from the norm.
Equally, if a tour of Scotland’s whisky heritage doesn’t float your boat, the surrounding area is equally rich with diverse attractions. For example, the bustling harbour town of Oban is only 14 miles away, allowing you the opportunity to, literally, float your boat to the stunning Isles nearby! Closer still, the village of Taynuilt lies only 2 miles away and enables you to stock up on provisions while appreciating its splendid locality.
Those after wilder experiences will be interested to hear that golden eagles and buzzards are often seen in the region. Meanwhile, the nearby sea provides one of the few places in the UK where you can see dolphins in their native habitat. Though, if you need time to get your sea legs, you may prefer a visit to the nearby Sea Life centre.
Laurel Tree itself offers an equally varied amount of things to see and do. Thankfully, most of these involve relaxation. There are two separate balconies, to aid your appreciation of the surrounding area, both of which are also perfect for spotting wildlife. If you prefer indoor relaxation there are four separate satellite televisions, so you won’t be arguing over the remote – Though you’ll have to drag your gaze away from the views through the large cathedral windows! There is also a sauna, for added relaxation. The property itself is open-plan, which encourages a naturally social atmosphere. And if you’d like to be even more social on your break, you can even get married in the grounds!
There’s far more to see and do in the property and its surrounding area, so we recommend viewing the property listing on cottages4you.
