Cottage of the week – La Villa de Jade
Since we appear to be having something of an art week this week at cottages4you we’ve decided to focus on a featured property with a strong artistic heritage for our new featured cottage.
Not that you’ll need much convincing to book a stay at La Villa de Jade in Pont-Aven. Aside from the lovely photos that you’ve probably already had a peek at, the property is nestled at the end of a long lane and set within three acres of private grounds, comprised of woodland and meadows. You’ll find the stone walls, tiled floors and exposed beams perfectly complement the property’s rustic charms. Take a walk outside and all you’ll hear are birds singing as you gaze across the rolling green fields.
That Pont-Aven was so inspirational to artists should come as no surprise. Its stunning landscapes and welcoming climate attracted post impressionist painters Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard who, along with Paul Sérusier, formed the ‘Pont-Aven School’ in the region. To this day Pont-Aven is a huge draw for artists, and there are plenty of places to appreciate artwork in the town with around 10 galleries lining the streets.
Other attractions in the area include Concarneau, a walled-harbour town boasting a fantastic medieval heritage. Of particular interest is the annual fishermen’s festival in mid-August – one of Brittany’s most popular celebrations. If you fancy a more tranquil celebration of the ocean then we’d recommend a visit to Kerfany, Raguenez and Trévignon, all south-facing sandy beaches.
If you fancy brushing up on your painting skills, or just want to relax and enjoy a stunning location, then please visit the property’s listing on cottages4you where you can find more info and make a booking.
