Cottage of the week – Drishane Cottage

If your idea of the ultimate holiday is escaping to somewhere scenic and tranquil to relax then you will adore our new featured cottage of the week. In fact, looking at what Drishane Cottage in County Cork has to offer, we think we’d struggle to find anyone who wouldn’t be enchanted by its winning combination of great looks and location.

Set within beautiful remote headland, Drishane Cottage lies within the Loch Hyne Special Area of Conservation. Take a look out of the window and you’ll see a beautiful sandy beach below. A few minutes walk and you’ll be able to take a closer appreciation of its sparkling waters and wild headland. In fact walk in any direction from the cottage and you’ll fall in love with the unspoilt landscape. And with 40 acres of land (shared with the neighbouring owner), not to mention its own natural garden, there’s plenty to keep you occupied!

Of course, if relaxation is your goal then you may prefer to start your exploration with the property itself. Sympathetically renovated, Drishane Cottage offers all the modern comfort you’d expect whilst retaining its considerable charm and character. You’ll find wooden floors, covered with soft rugs, a wood burner in the living room and plenty of comfortable furniture to aid your relaxation.

Nearby attractions include Lough Hyne, an inland sea lake with marine nature reserve and forest walks. Skibbereen, the most southerly town in Ireland, is 10 minutes’ drive away. You’ll find plenty of places to eat and drink – including weekend markets – in what is considered by many to be the luckiest town in Ireland. Pay a visit and we’re sure you might agree.

More practical needs can be met with a shop that’s just a few minutes drive from Drishane Cottage. However, if you fancy catching your own dinner, you can also go fishing from the headland. Sounds like the perfect way to relax to us!

If you’d like to find out more, or make a booking, please visit the property’s listing on cottages4you.
