Cottage of the week – Croft House

Haworth was an obvious choice of location for Cottage of the Week, since it’s also the new entry to our ‘101 places to go in the UK, Ireland and France’, feature – which in turn was inspired by a forthcoming new film adaptation of Jane Eyre. The only problem we faced was choosing just one cottage in Haworth, since it’s not exactly short of lovely places to stay.

As Haworth is most renowned for being the home of the Bronte family we soon decided on Croft House, as its creation in the 18th century makes it about the same age as Charlotte, Emily and Anne. And since the sisters lived in the centre of Haworth, it’s entirely possible they passed Croft House as they made their way down Haworth’s cobbled streets. In fact, the family’s former home – and now Bronte museum – The Parsonage is just a short stroll from the property’s front door.

Other local amenities include an array of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants that are a joy to relax in and explore. Stroll a little further and you can catch the Worth Valley Steam Railway – a delightful heritage railway line that offers one of the best views of Bronte country, not to mention one of the most relaxing ways to explore it. If you also fancy a trip to the Yorkshire Dales then gateway town Skipton is only a 30 minute drive away.

Croft House itself is a fantastic mix of historic features and contemporary comfort. So while you can sit and appreciate the beamed ceilings, you’ll no doubt find equal comfort in the Jacuzzi bath. The kitchen contains an equal mix of character and convenience with all the equipment you need to prepare a fantastic meal and a lovely space in which to enjoy it.

Croft House offers up to four happy holidaymakers that perfect combination of comfort and relaxation in an area that’s filled with history, heritage and things to see and do. If you fancy exploring Bronte country, and one of the UK’s most naturally stunning locations, then please take a look at the property’s listing on cottages4you, where you can find out more info and make a booking.
