We’re always looking at ways to use new technology to make the cottages4you experience more enjoyable. From Fried breakfast alarm clocks (yes – an alarm clock that wakes you up to the sizzle of sausages and bacon all automatically cooked for you) to full on robotic butlers, serving you 24 hours a day and catering to your every whim.
However, we think we’ve outdone ourselves this time, with our first steps into ‘augmented reality’.
For those of you already wondering what ‘augmented reality’ is, we’ll try and explain in technical terms. Augmented reality is essentially reality that has been augmented. So it’s much like what you’re seeing now, but a little more ‘augmented’.
To augment your reality, simply download the app from your smartphone handset and activate it when you check in at your holiday cottage. Hold your smartphone up to eye level and the camera will interpret its surroundings and highlight some useful items in your cottage (example above).
So if you’re looking for the teaspoons, you can find them easily, while shaving milliseconds off your holiday time. Need a spare pillow? Just follow the dot. Want to find local maps and attraction guides – let the ‘augmented reality viewer’ guide you to the third drawer down in the living room sideboard (who would have guessed they’d be there?).
We’re still trialling the app at the moment but if you want to get a sneak peek, please point the barcode reader of your phone at the graphic to the left. If you don’t have a barcode reader then we wholeheartedly suggest that you simply enjoy the thousands of great holiday accommodation ideas already available through cottages4you in ‘orthodox reality’ mode.
Enjoy your day!
