Visiting a greenhouse may sound like an unlikely entry in 101 Places to Go in the UK, Ireland and France, but few greenhouses are like the Eden Project in Cornwall.
In fact, describing the Eden Project as a greenhouse is a bit like describing Picasso as someone who liked to draw. Besides, how many greenhouses offer music events, art exhibitions, workshops and the world’s largest rainforest in captivity?
Normal service has resumed at the Eden Project following last year’s floods, and with the winter weather continuing across the rest of the UK, what better time to go and enjoy an indoor tropical climate.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan offer over 200 acres of stunning greenery to explore. You may also see plenty of native wildlife – including many rare species. Hey, the Green Heron wouldn’t just live anywhere you know.
St Austell Brewery offers tours with a museum, visitor centre, wine warehouse and, yes, there is also a bar.
