101 places to go – Dublin
It’s St Patrick’s Day next week, but instead of recommending you go to the pub wearing a silly hat, we’ve decided to recommend a visit to Dublin for our new addition of ‘101 places to go…’.
In keeping with the ‘not going down the pub wearing a silly hat’ theme, we’re going to look at other things to do in Ireland’s stunning capital city. Some explore the city’s history, some its beautiful surrounding scenery, while others peek round the corner to highlight some of its best-kept secrets.
• Walkabout Wicklow is one of the best ways to gain an appreciation of the countryside surrounding Dublin. Lasting 3-4 hours, the guided tour takes in some of the region’s cultural history too. No wonder it’s regarded by some as ‘Dublin’s best kept secret’.
• For many, the Temple Bar region is a highlight of their time in the city. A charming, well-preserved historic region, Temple Bar is widely known as Dublin’s cultural quarter with galleries, cafes and cute shops perfectly complimenting the unspoilt history.
• The Temple Bar is one of the most vibrant and enjoyable areas of Dublin after hours, but if you fancy something different then The Secret Castle of Magic and An Evening of Food, Folklore and Fairies are both popular with visitors to Dublin. Magic, mystery, local food and folklore – what better way to end a tour of Dublin? And not a silly hat in sight!
