Summer of Cinema – Various locations

Outdoor cinema is becoming a British summer institution. Just you, a picnic and the stars in the sky and on the big screen!
Luna Cinema are one of the leading lights in outdoor cinema. This year they will be touring the UK showing crowd-pleasers like The Greatest Showman, The Italian Job (with orchestra) and more. There’s also beach cinema in Brighton and a special Luna Kids selection.
Castell Roc – Family friendly music in an amazing setting
Chepstow Castle boasts an incredibly scenic setting overlooking the River Wye in Monmouthshire, and throughout August becomes possibly the most spectacular music venue in the UK!
12 shows take place over 3 weeks with music from Motown, Craig Charles Funk & Soul show and much more.
Kynren – An epic tale of England told in Durham

The UK’s most spectacular open-air live show returns to Durham this summer to tell the story of England in 90 minutes.
It helps that Kynren has 1,000 performers, a 7.5 acre stage with a huge natural lake and amazing pyrotechnics, special effects and lighting. Shows run from end of June until mid-September.
Manchester Pride – Cover the city in colour

One of the country’s biggest, best and most celebrated LGBT+ events makes Manchester a must-visit over the August bank holiday weekend.
The Big Weekend runs from 24th August and offers musical performances, and there’s the alternative Superbia Weekend offering a celebration of LGBT+ life across the arts. The huge Pride Parade and Candlelit Vigil ends what will be an amazing weekend.
Events in Edinburgh – Fringe, festivals and more in August
Edinburgh is awash with colour and vibrancy in the summertime. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo offers a fantastic traditional spectacle to the castle from 3rd to 25th August.
The International Festival and Festival Fringe need little introduction. Here you will find an amazing array of the arts – from music, comedy, literature and more. If that weren’t enough there’s also the International Book Festival between 11th and 27th August.
British Fireworks Championships – Plymouth
The views at Plymouth Hoe in Devon are pretty spectacular at the best of times, but they become even more magnificent when the British Firework Championships is in town.
6 separate companies compete to become the champions, on the 8th and 9th August, with an array of amazing firework displays. There’s plenty of food and entertainment on the ground too.
Splendour Festival – Family friendly music festival in Nottingham

Taking place over one day (so you don’t need a tent!), Nottingham’s Splendour Festival offers musical treats for the whole family.
Celebrating 10 years on 21st July, 2018’s event offers a headline turn from Paloma Faith with support from The Charlatans, Sophie Ellis Bextor and much more. With comedy, a fun fair and much more, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.
Cowes Week, Isle of Wight
The world’s oldest and largest sailing regatta returns for 8 days of marvellous maritime entertainment with 8,000 competitors taking part on the Isle of Wight.
Watch from the shore or on a spectator boat; enjoy the opening night fireworks and find a host of other entertainment on shore! Runs for a week from 4th August.
Pride Cymru – Be loud and proud in Cardiff

Running for over the August bank holiday weekend, this year’s Pride event in Cardiff promises 3 days of ‘pure party atmosphere and extravagant entertainment’.
Alongside music, funfair rides and entertainment, there’s a huge Pride Cymru Parade that winds through the city streets in an amazing display of sound and colour. Last year’s had over 7,000 participants in a parade stretching over a mile long!
SO Festival, Lincolnshire – Enjoy culture on the coast

Outdoor art comes to the Lincolnshire coast in August with music, pyrotechnics and amazing performances in the outdoors at the SO Festival.
Street theatre, music, magic and much more provide the perfect complement the classic seaside charms of Skegness, so there’s no better place to enjoy summer with extra sizzle!
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival – Music and high times in the Highlands

Great music in a lovely live setting, the Tartan Heart Festival has been delighting visitors since 2004. Located on the Belladrum Estate near Inverness, there’s much to enjoy in the surrounding area too!
2018’s event offers performances from Paloma Faith, Primal Scream and many more. There’s camping available on site, but why not book a property and enjoy the best of both worlds!
